CAPRICORNIA CORRECTIONAL CENTRE
After 6 years of of being a Prison Fellowship chaplain at Capricornia Correctional Centre it still has to be one of the most fruitful and rewarding ministries I’ve been blessed to be involved in. The lives that I’m weekly involved with, the challenges of helping men change into guys that have a vision and a future as they come to know Jesus and learn to walk in relationship with Him - these are the things that make my Friday.
The Spirit of God is at work in our prisons. He is raising up men who have been to the bottom, tried to get up by the own strength, given up in despair - and found Jesus. Found Him waiting to give them what they could not get- peace, forgiveness, grace and hope.

SAM’S BOOK
The PF team in Rockhampton is led by Sam Betros, a man who found forgiveness and freedom after 43 years as a criminal. Imprisoned at sixteen for car theft Sam had spent over half his life on the wrong side of the law until his dramatic conversion in 1989, whilst crossing a bridge in Rockhampton.
It’s all in his book, Broken Chains, which has just come out in a third reprint. It’s an amazing story and one that is an inspiration to the guys at Capricornia CC, where Sam is a regular visitor.
